Happy Bit: Why You MUST Share Your Gifts If You Want to Be Happy
Feeling BLAH? Tired? Discouraged? Afraid? Then you're out of alignment, probably because you're not sharing the gifts and talents you've been given. Learn how to figure out what you're good at and then take the challenge to jump in and get started.
“We all have gifts and talents. When we cultivate those gifts and share them with the world, we create a sense of meaning and purpose in our lives. Squandering our gifts brings distress to our lives. As it turns out, it's not merely benign or ‘too bad' if we don't use the gifts that we've been given; we pay for it with our emotional and physical well-being. When we don't use our talents to cultivate meaningful work, we struggle. We feel disconnected and weighed down by feelings of emptiness, frustration, resentment, shame, disappointment, fear, and even grief.” ~Brené Brown
List everything you're good at in your journal. List what you enjoy doing. List what energizes you. Then ask everyone you're close to some of the same questions: “What do you see as my gifts and talents? What do you think I'm good at?” Find the themes, figure out what feels GOOD to you, and dive in and spend 30-60 minutes a day sharing the gift or talent you selected. Enjoy! Living in alignment feels SOOOO much better than feeling weighed down by negative. Follow that inner GPS to become your happiest self.
