18: High Vibe Living (with Kimberly Bost)

In the past, Kimberly Bost felt “beaten by the world” and decided to begin a journey to take back her life. She learned to put her health and family first, to be authentic, to say no, and to slow down. Kim is a master of living in the moment and raising her personal vibration into states of compassion, love, kindness, and cooperation (rather than the low vibration, victim-type emotions of self-pity, anger, or pettiness).

Nuggets of Wisdom from Kimberly:

  • “Just to be kind always.”
  • “I started definitely having a greater sense of calm when I was letting go of things. I was not overscheduling myself like I was. I felt that I have more time in the day because I was not packing so much in.”
  • “It is so hard, but do I try to live in the moment and try to enjoy each day and the challenges that it brings.”
  • “I really have worked hard on consciously raising my vibration. If I recognize that I have fallen into things that have dragged me down, like self-pity or anger or pettiness or like my website crashes or things can be completely frustrating and just send you snowballing into self-pity or anger, I really try to practice noticing that and changing it around, and it inevitably works. I am always surprised, but it does. I find that I am able to move through these things and rise back up more quickly and more easily.”
  • “Vibration is basically where you are resonating with yourself and the people or things that you are interacting with. And a lower vibration is usually like a victim-type vibration or self-pity or anger or fear. And if you allow yourself to live there, sometimes you have to go through that stuff in order to get where you need to be, but if you do not notice that you are there, and you wallow, it can snowball. So, what you want your goal to be is to move through those things and have a goal of raising your vibration and get more towards compassion and love and kindness to yourself and cooperation and seeing solutions, just bringing things to a positive frame from when they are in that negative place. And I am not saying you cannot have those feelings, everybody does but it just, it does not serve you to stay there and identify it and try to shift things however you can, and there are lots of different strategies for doing that, but learning some of those and really trying to shift where you are is an extremely helpful thing to learn.”
  • “Some people are overwhelmed with clutter, and that can be something that really steals your energy and your joy. And there are a number of reasons why we hold on to clutter. That is something a lot of people need to address as well.”
  • “If it is just a matter of amassing things or not being able to let go of things, then I think it is a problem, and it is something that if you address and you move through, you will be able to move forward in different areas in your life that you want to.”
  • “Pulling out every item of clothing that you have in your home and going through each one and determining if it sparks joy or not, just the very practice of doing that over and over and over again, really kind of strengthens your decision muscle and makes you all the better at making everyday choices about that kind of thing.”
  • “Surround yourself with the things you love and not the stuff that you do not love that sucks your energy.”
  • “If you wait until you are ready, you will never start.”

Some of Kimberly's Favorite Things:

  • Personal habit: “Every morning my son and I meditate before school together. It puts us in a good frame of mind.”
  • Easy meal: Buddha Bowl. Bowl of rice, sheets of seaweed that we cut up, some roasted vegetables like sweet potatoes or zucchini, chick peas, green goddess dressing. (How to roast vegetables: Cut them. Drizzle with olive oil and sea salt. Bake an hour in the oven. Store in the refrigerator.
  • Possession: “My Ninja (blender) that I make my smoothies in the morning.”
  • Book: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: A Simple, Effective Way to Banish Clutter Forever by Marie Kondo
  • Bucket list item: “I am going to write a book which I started doing research on. I want to meet these great women. Women I love and the Spaces they love (BOOK).”
  • Best advice received: “Start before you are ready.”
  • Happiest memory: “First time I heard my son cry. The most joyful moment of my life.”

Kimberly's Happiness Formula:

“Practicing living in the moment and not letting the past and the future interrupt your present happiness or what you are going through presently. Living in the moment. Practicing gratitude, and spending time with your family and friends, the people that mean the most to you.”

A Challenge from Kimberly:

“Think about the things that you may be holding on to, either physically or mentally that may be holding you back. Think if these things are bringing you joy and if they are not, how can let go of them and move on?”
