90: Embrace Your Messiness and Imperfection (Kelly McNelis)

Is it time for you to end the chase for perfection? In this episode, guest Kelly McNelis shares how to fully embrace your flaws, messes, and mistakes as you live unapologetically, wholeheartedly and authentically.

“Embrace your messiness and especially embrace your messy brilliance in all its glorious imperfections.”

“What I want women to do it to discover their own genius through the messiness of their lives – whether it be through experiences and stories that they’ve told themselves about who they are, instead of avoiding those issues – really diving in to figure out what your messy brilliance is in order to be able to make life happen on your own terms.”

“You can’t just pretend that everything is fine when you are lying on the bathroom floor with one of those moments of, “I’m desperately unhappy!” So, really accepting where you are, I think, is very important. Then once you do that in your life, you can move into the space of embracing your power and listening to your gut and your intuition – beause I think it’s very important that women listen to that inner voice that we all have and trust that place.”

Some of Kelly's Favorite Things:

Routine: “Deep breaths and gratitude just for 5 minutes.”

Boost Mood: “I call my best friend and we talk for 3 minutes or an hour.”

Favorite Easy Meal: “Take every single thing in my fridge and toss it into a stirfry pan.”

Best advice received: “Trust yourself. Every time I trust my gut, it’s always right. I just have to be clear enough to hear it.”

Favorite Book: “Paula Coelho, The Alchemist, but especially all the other books.”

“To not beat myself up for my mistakes… to embrace that messy, dark, crazy place in myself… to forgive myself and to dive into what brings me joy and passion in my life, every single day.”
